This client originally contacted EA in 2004 for a replacement bank of batteries. Then adding some more solar panels. A few years later, he asks to have EA come up to review his system and make recommendations for an upgrade. Gasps of Horror were heard down the block as he showed us into his power shed. It was generally safe, but it sure was a mess!

Old System:

  • Statpower 3 kW modified sine inverter
  • Auxiliary statpower truceharge battery charger
  • Generic gasoline 6 kW generator
  • 4 Golf cart batteries (upgraded to 85T19 2V cells)
  • Assorted strange and redundant switching methods.
  • 4 x KC120 solar modules, wired for 12V with some seriously fat wires.

Upgraded system

  • Outback VFX2812 dual inverters
  • Proper battery box
  • Onan RS12000 inverter, auto-start
  • Remote metering system (future).
