Transformers are used for Voltage conversion. Common uses of transformers include:

Step Down - taking the 240 Volt output form a generator and stepping down to 120 Volts

Step Up - taking the 120 Volt output from an inverter and increase to 240 Volts, typically for operation of power tools or well pumps

Constant Voltage 12V or 24V - 5A +/- 2%

T240 120 - 240 volt step or step down

This transformer allows you to power 240 VAC loads (e.g. power tools, water pumps) from a single 120 VAC inverter (providing the inverter is suitably sized).
