Kevin Pegg, President, Industrial/Commercial Sales.
Kevin has been interested in renewable energy, starting from his
grade four science fair project on Solar Energy. In 1992, living
in a remote location on Vancouver Island Kevin purchased a small
renewable energy system from Energy Alternatives (EA) and went on
to design and install solar/wind systems, becoming the local expert
and a renewable energy installer. He purchased EA in 2000, growing
the companys client-base and expertise with forward thinking
technologies and installations as well as tireless promotion of
renewable energy options and off-grid solutions.
Kevin handles the day-to-day operations of EA, promoting the company
at tradeshows and presentations, handling industrial sales, site
surveys, system design and overseeing Research and Development projects.
His expertise on green energy solutions in British Columbia is in
demand and EA takes pride in over 500 wind, solar, and micro-hydro
installations throughout BC since 2000.
Kevin generally walks to work, is passionate about organic foods
and has been a vegetarian since 1991.

Michelle Hayes, General Manager
Michelle has a diverse background in sales, purchasing, logistics,
credit control & collections, systems implementation & management,
all facets of accounting & human resources in varied industries
ranging from retail sales, and construction over the past 37 years.
Michelle's belief is take care of your customer's needs in a true,
honest, reasonable manner, and they will reciprocate in spades.
Michelle is a 7th year extremely avid Dragon Boat paddler. Her team
(Paddler's of the 5th Moon) is a co-ed recreational team, besides
giving any competitive division team a very hard run for a medal,
theyactively fundraise, last year raising over $5,000.00 for cancer
research.

TJ Schur, Director of Business Development
TJ Schur has more than 15 years experience working with policy
decision makers, governments and senior stakeholders in multiple
sectors. Highly effective in organizational development and project
management, TJ has 10 years in the energy sector specifically
industrial wind development. As part of senior development teams,
TJ has led a number of start-up projects in manufacturing, human
service and energy sectors. She is working as part of the Energy
Alternatives team to expand renewable energy solutions into traditional
and new sectors.
TJ has a Masters degree in Environmental Studies (MES) in wind
energy, community development and project planning. She is inspired
by local food, 98 meter wind turbines, integrated renewable energy
solutions and the fact that her toddler knows how wind turbines
work.

Doug Pegg, CA, Controller
Doug Pegg is a chartered accountant by training and has been an
entrepreneur throughout his life. Doug has worked in a number of
different capacities over the years, and brings forth a wealth of
experience in the matters of running a business and bringing new
products to market.
Doug oversees our financial and accounting transactions as well
as supplier and relations.

Elke Webb, Reception, Shipping & Receiving
Elke brings forth to EA 24 years experience in the auto parts industry
and is the most senior staff member at EA. Elke has worked in a
number of different customer service occupations and past experience
managing auto parts supply stores.
Elke is a friendly voice on the other end of the phone, helping
customers to speak to the correct people. Elke will greet walk-in
customers, process orders, arrange for inbound and outbound shipping,
a problem-solver when shippers mess up as well as product ordering
responsibilities, keeping the shelves stocked.
Elke and her family are active in equestrian shows.

Owen Low, Head Technician
Owen has a diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology from SAIT.
He has worked in multiple disciplines from farming to oil exploration
to electronic design to microhydro both domestically and overseas.
Owen has been interested in alternate energy since the early 70's
and worked in the field since 1991. Currently living on a self-sufficient
54' gaff rigged schooner.
Known all over as the problem solver, his wide skill set aids in
the most challenging installations. Owen leads many of the installations
ranging from PV to Wind to microhydro and repairs the equipment
that does occasionally fail. Owen provides advice and technical
reviews for any Research and Development tasks.
Owen commutes daily on his electric scooter.

Hiltz Tanner, Senior Residential Sales Technician
Hiltz has been working with EA since 2005 and has been interested
in sustainable energy since high school, when his focus was on electric
hybrid vehicles. He has a Mechanical Engineering degree from Dalhousie
University in Halifax, NS and is also an apprentice automotive mechanic.
While at university, he researched electric vehicles, geothermal
power, energy conversion systems, and renewable energy technologies.
His final year design project was based on using solar power for
small scale farm irrigation in developing countries. His design
team went on to win first place at the Atlantic Engineering Competition.
Hiltz handles the design of all our custom solar racking solutions
as well as general design for many other projects. Hiltz is part
of our sales team and is one of our technical advice experts; he
handles everything from system design to troubleshooting and maintenance.

Brad Glenn, Technician
Brad has a background in industrial / automotive mechanics, following
a 5 year military service in Canada and Europe. It was during this
time, Brad developed a strong interest in electrical and electronics,
with a particular knack for troubleshooting.
Brad handles much of the shop pre-assembly of systems, creates
the system manuals shipped with systems, and assists in all aspects
of installations, as long as he keeps his feet on the ground.
Brad takes public transit to/from work.

Jim Holt, Senior Machinist / consultant
Jim has been working with EA since 2000. As an RAF military trained
aircraft engineer who has done everything from military service
to appliance repair to home building, Jim brings a wealth of wisdom
and knowledge to EA.
Jim has worked extensively on our offices over the years as our
building superintendent and head carpenter. When EA purchased a
4000 sq ft commercial building in 2004. Jim was instrumental in
the extensive renovations. Jim also works on various machining projects
and is our head mechanic for microhydro turbine repairs or modifications.
Jim & his wife Daphne have lived off-grid for the last 30 years
and knows firsthand what works and what doesn't.

Sean Kahil, Computer Programmer
Sean is the programming genius behind many of our software projects,
such as the Microhydro
Calculator and numerous utilities used internally. His current
project is a system which will allow you to monitor and control
your renewable energy system remotely.
He has B.Sc. in computer science with a minor in philosophy. He
prides himself on building intuitive software that is powerful behind
the scenes, but simple to the eye. He started in computer modeling
for GIS systems, and his portfolio
of programs includes anti-spam and security software, marine
chart software and a program to help biologists count tree rings
to track climate change. When not on the computer, he loves to build,
tinker and invent. For him, an energy efficient system isnt
just responsible, it is beautiful. He lived on a boat for a decade
with a 30 Amp 120 volt eletrical service. .

Will Brooke, Technician
Will has spent over 15 years working in a wide variety of roles
in the computer industry, from web, database and custom software
development to network administration and PC repair. He started
his professional career at 16 as a database developer for Xantrex
Technology, where he designed and built their first Quality Assurance
database as a key part of their ISO9000 certification process.
Will is currently leading the development of a remote monitoring
and control system database back end and overall project management.
He enjoys being un-tethered from the keyboard and getting out into
the field to work on installations whenever possible.
Will has a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy, and is currently pursuing
a diploma in Communications in his spare time.
If he isn't racing sailboats, Will and his wife Jana both spend
a lot of time helping on their friends farm in Metchosin.

JD Baillie, Technician
JD Baillie has a 40 year history in communications and electronics.
He set up his first radio station when he was 13, later becoming
a member of Canada's Communications Reserve, worked in cable vision
and PBX telephone systems and is a dedicated recreational boater.
Electrical supply for remote radio and boat installations have
always been of interest and necessity. JD works in technical sales
with a focus on the marine, RV and small industrial telemetery systems.
He has been the lead installer for our remote monitoring project
and works closely with the software and hardware developers for
integration of new features and product testing.

Our resident office mascot, Woody keeps us amused and entertained.
She prefers to hide away upstairs in the sales/Administration areas,
where it's less busy than the showroom, shop and warehouse downstairs.
