This customer met us at a trade show in 2003. They were building on a remote lot that was several miles away from powerlines, and desired a renewable energy system. Through discussions to determine their power needs, a system was designed and installed.

System Details:

• 8 x Sharp 185 watt solar modules. 1.5 kW
• 1800 a/h 24V 2Volt industrial battery bank
• Dual Xantrex SW4024 inverters, for 8 kW at 120/240
• Tied into existing propane generator with auto start
• Remote monitoring in home

Customer has since expanded system with the addition of a winter-only microhydro generator. This unit makes up when the grey winters of the BC coast kick in.
